How to stay organized at work

The day to day running of a business or just managing your job can become overwhelming quickly. Here are my top three ways to help stay organized at work!
1. Make a To-Do List: To some this may seem arbitrary but seeing all of the moving pieces of your day, week, month in one place will help you to prioritize the top three items and work your way down from there. Now there are many formats to making a to-do list. I prefer having mine organized by due date, then by task so I can really get a feel for what I need to accomplish on a daily basis. Plus there is just something so satisfying about crossing off an item on my to-do list ( or clicking a box and adding a check when they are online!)
2. Take at least 10-15 minutes at the beginning and ending of the work day to organize your work space and to-do list. This will set your day up for success and you can track the progress you have made that day.
3. Take a deep breath when I start to feel unorganized and GIVE MYSELF PERMISSION to regroup and strategize on what I need to do to feel in control again. Being unorganized usually comes in those moments when everything is coming at you all at once and if you have given yourself permission to step back and look at the big picture you can start to move the puzzle pieces back into place.
What do you do to help yourself stay organized?
